Local music fans of Blue Rodeo and Teenage Head have a unique opportunity coming up at the Backstage Capitol Theatre in Delhi. On Saturday June 27 at 8pm, two talented members from both bands team up to present “The Canadian All-Star Rock & Roll Show”.
This four-piece show band features the charismatic Dave Rave, the former lead-singer & guitarist from 1980’s party-rock icons “Teenage Head” along with Cleave Anderson, the original drummer for Blue Rodeo performing an incredible range of hit songs from the 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s.
Of course, “The Canadian Rock & Roll All-Star Show” also features well-known classic rock radio favourites from Teenage Head including “Let’s Shake” “Something on My Mind” “Teenage Beer Drinking Party” and “Some Kinda Fun” alongside some amazing songs from Blue Rodeo, including the heartfelt ballad “Try” and the classic “Rose Coloured Glasses”. As a bonus, the group adds in some rockin’ hits from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones that will likely have the Delhi theatre crowd dancing in the aisles.
The show’s lead vocalist, Dave Rave began his recording career in the late 1970's as
co-founder of Hamilton's "The Shakers" which charted numerous songs on CHUM-FM, such as the "Stray Cats-flavoured" hit "Out The Door". Dave eventually left that group to join "Teenage Head", a band he sang and played guitar with for over seven years. After moving on to pursue a solo career, Dave headed to New York City and formed "The Dave Rave Conspiracy", which gained notoriety when they became one of only two acts signed to Russia's “Melodyia Records”. The other artist was Paul McCartney! Today, Dave continues to write songs, and scored a major hit last year for "The Trews" with the song "She's So Leaving". www.Dave-Rave.com
Drummer Cleave Anderson is well established in Canadian music history as the original drummer for the legendary band "Blue Rodeo" with whom he recorded the timeless hits "Diamond Mine" "Try" and "Rose Coloured Glasses" in addition to other Blue Rodeo classics. Cleave was one of the "original five members" of the band which also included Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor, Bobby Wiseman, and Basil Donovan, all of whom
re-united for a Juno-winning DVD in 2005. www.BlueRodeo.com
Bassist and vocalist Bill Culp co-founded Canadian punk rock legends "The Problem Children" while attending Dunnville Secondary School. The local band went on to reach the Top Ten on the National Campus Charts in 1985, sitting alongside other alternative bands of the era such as "Husker Du" and "The Beastie Boys". After leaving the group, Bill toured Canada extensively and released a solo, rockabilly flavoured disc entitled "Roots & Roll" which featured Garth Hudson (The Band), Jack DeKeyzer, Chris Whiteley and Dave Rave. The disc reached the Top 15 in the USA on the Americana charts, and the single "Riverside" charted nationally on the Canadian Country Top 100 for 3 consecutive months. In 2008, Bill joined the national touring cast of "Good Rockin' Tonight: The Sun Records Story" where he portrayed Carl Perkins, best known for his early rock and roll hit "Blue Suede Shoes". www.BillCulp.ca
Guitarist Thom Hastings was born in Canada but learned his superior guitar picking skills and showmanship down in Los Angeles, California. His unique approach to playing guitar adds an element of excitement to “The Canadian Rock & Roll All-Star Show”.
Souvenir CD’s and merchandise will be on sale during the show, and the performers will meet and greet fans afterwards to sign autographs.
